psst… the next small thing is here - The Poet Quarterly

The Poet - a cartoon man with a white beard, wearing a large yellow hat, blue shirt, and brown pants - is standing on one leg with a leaf stuck to his shoe. A pigeon is nearby on the ground, and there are green and orange leaves scattered around.

THE POET

The Poet is a daily comic.

The cast is small: a thoughtful Poet who spends his days wandering the park, a self-important Pigeon obsessed with donuts and fame, and a Park Bench that occasionally offers a few words of wisdom when nobody is around.

New strips appear online every day, and it’s also collected in book form.

“Sparse, meditative, and delightful... Like all great comic strip characters, they're fun to look at and a joy to be with.”

— Patrick McDonnell, MUTTS cartoonist

“These comics are very lovely. I keep reading The Poet when I am ‘supposed to be doing something else.’”

— Lemony Snicket, author

The Poet has a sense of humor about thinking hard and feeling deeply while not apologizing for such outrageous behavior. It's refreshing.”

— Hal Hartley, filmmaker

“In the same class [as Peanuts]. There's a lot going on beneath the surface, if one is looking."

— The Comics Journal “Best Comics of 2023”
